Coronavirus Updated from the Illinois Federation of Teachers

(via the IFT)

We are doing our best to keep IFT members informed about coronavirus/COVID-19 and its impact on schools and workplaces. Please review these updates and determine how they will affect you. If you have questions about how COVID-19 is impacting your workplace, please contact your IFT local, council, or chapter president or your IFT field service director. From IFT:

  • President Dan Montgomery was interviewed on WBEZ and WGN yesterday about the response from schools and unions.

  • And here's his official statement following the governor's announcement yesterday to close schools.

  • IFT leaders throughout the state will be holding a conference call on Monday evening to discuss the implications that this crisis may have on collective bargaining, our members, students, and communities.

  • Follow @iftaft on Twitter for the latest updates.

From the Office of the Governor:

Yesterday, Governor Pritzker announced the closure of all Illinois K-12 schools until March 31. Many universities across the state and the City Colleges of Chicago have already announced the transition to online learning. We will continue to share information from the governor as it becomes available. More resources:
