While workers find themselves struggling, billionaires and board rooms are putting profits before people. Our schools are lacking in resources, universities are cutting programs, and state services remain understaffed while the ultra rich keep getting richer. Too often, decisions that shape our paychecks, our schools and the cost of everyday life are driven by those at the top, instead of the people doing the work. AFSCME Local 1110, the Union representing the building service, groundskeeping, and dining service workers at Illinois State University, went on strike April 8th for a fair contract! Not only is ISU refusing to negotiate a fair contract, but they have also started to hire strikebreakers to fill in for the essential work these employees do.
