Brothers and Sisters:
Recently, the Illinois Federation of Public Employees, Local 4408 Executive Board, was notified of a horrific disaster that occurred with one of our members. Wednesday, January 30th, during the Polar Vortex, William Eck was leaving for work when he noticed his residence was on fire. He immediately tried to extinguish the flames; when this was not working, he ran into the house to ensure the safety of his wife, Ashley, and their young son, Billy. Unfortunately, the residence was a total loss. William Eck is a Meat and Poultry Inspector. He is primarily stationed at the Petersburg meat processing plant in Petersburg, Illinois. Bill and his family have lost all of their possessions. There has been a GoFundMe account set up here.
You can learn more about the disaster here.
Please, if you can afford to contribute to our brother and his family, it goes without saying that it would be of great appreciation. Let us all dig deep and show our brother how we stand in solidarity with those in need.
In Solidarity,
IFPE Local 4408 Executive Board
